Class Information:

Learn the Olympic Sport of Fencing! Our Youth beginner classes are designed so young children can develop coordination, focus and flexibility required to become competitive fencers. Classes include warm-up, fencing foot work instruction and fencing in full equipment under the supervision of experienced coaches.

Because most parents of teenage fencers wish their child started fencing at Durkan Fencing Academy EARLIER we designed a youth beginner program that will give kids a competitive advantage at future regional and National tournaments.

Our youth program will also guide you and your child through the fencing competition process with the Durkan Youth Cup events. The Durkan Youth Cup will provide monthly practice tournaments and optional additional tournaments just for youth fencers. Our tournament team and coaches will teach you the rules and process of fencing tournaments so you will be well on your way to becoming a successful fencer.

What to bring: Wear comfortable (athletic) clothing and sneakers if you want to try the class. Fencing equipment is available for purchase or to rent for $49 per month.

Recommended Ages: 5 to 9 years-old. Kids age 10 and up should try our Tier 1 classes for beginners.

Class Schedule and Fee: To help EVERY family fit fencing into their schedule our Youth Beginner classes are offered 4-days a week (September through June, classes will be three days per week in July and August). The program is $375 per month for unlimited classes. You do not need to attend every class!! Our coaches recommend at least 2-3 classes per week for effective skill development. Rental of club fencing equipment is $49/month.
